Horizon unregister panels

Does anyone have more granular step by step instructions to unregister panels from Horizon? I have followed the instructions and bounced apache2 but no luck. I simply want to hide every panel except the Swift Object Storage one. So users will just see their project and then "Object Store" and "Containers" on the left hand panel. I am UNIX admin not a developer and feel I'm missing something basic but the guide below is not super specific. What files (including default path) have to be changed and what if anything needs to be restarted for this work? Example config files would be great too.

I think I figured it out through some trial and error but simply editing /usr/share/openstack-dashboard/openstack_dashboard/dashboards/project/dashboard.py to reflect what I want and bouncing apache2 got it done.
