how can i fix it?

AFAIU, the error (result=6) indicates a failure in resolving the host.

Hm, probably not, since in between errors and timeouts, I can ping http://github.com w/o any PB.

Your host have'nt beeb resolved so you won't be able to use it that way. I recommend some tutorials from the web in order to avoud those kind of errors. Furthermore, there some toold which can make those kind of erros detected right as you develop. I have heard of one called Checkmarx which looks pretty good and you can try iy if you want. Good luck. When this happens, use git:// or git+ssh://, not https
