are you sure that in your localrc (local.conf) on your compute node you have set the SERVICE_HOST=ip_of_your_controller. verify that the compute services are launched in your compute node.

What does the output of nova service-list look like or neutron agent-list?

Hey, whenever you encounter error, remember to do the following

  1. Check whether all OpenStack services are running
  2. The log file for every running services gives better chance to encounter errors, so go through log files
  3. Check whether the flavor you selected for the VM is ample to launch it.

See if this command works in the mysql:

mysql> SET GLOBAL max_connections=2000;

It worked for me.
