I have installed ubuntu 12.04 lts alomgside windows with 50gb space, 4 gb ram , I5 intel. following http://devstack.org i have installed openstack for all in one single machine. when i try to launch any image, the error comes like this : Error: Failed to launch instance "cirros2nd": Please try again later [Error: No valid host was found. There are not enough hosts available.].

however the same configuration use to run very smoothly without any errors. now when i have googled for the error, it says,it is because you have less resources which i have enough and 2nd reason is nova-compute is missing from nova-manage service list.

no availability zones are found to launch my image. i have attached ![image descriptionhttp:// (image description)(http://)(http://)(http://)screenshots for the reference.

kindly help. regarding the same. it is my final year project.

If service list does not list nova-compute, it means the service did not start successfully. You should check the nova compute service logs or the n-cpu screen for errors.

Run as stack

$  cd dev*
$ /usr/local/bin/nova-compute --config-file /etc/nova/nova.conf &

It will give stack trace , either start nova-compute.
@binou
You have got a clear message

NovaException: Nova requires libvirt version 0.9.11 or greater.

Libvirt upgrade on Ubuntu 14.04 ( works for me ). Download libvirt-1.0.0.tar.gz form the Net
Run as root

    apt-get build-dep libvirt
    tar xvzf libvirt-1.0.0.tar.gz -C /usr/src
    cd /usr/src/libvirt-1.0.0
    ./configure --prefix=/usr/
    make
    make install
    service libvirt-bin restart

Another option for you just follow http://blog.scottlowe.org/2012/11/05/...

Make sure and check the controller host /var/log/upstart directory for logs that have activity and look for things like authentication failures on the API. Also I have ran into this issue numerous times just to find that there weren't enough CPU or storage on the only compute node I had at the time. I have since added several more and beefed up the drives and the problem went away.

Lastly, another issue I had that caused the same error message you're seeing, was that Openstack was attempting to put the VM on my controller since the controller also had nova-compute installed. So what I did was setup an aggregate host list and an availability zone so that only compute nodes and storage nodes were in the zone, this forces openstack to use one of the compute nodes as the VM host machine and won't ever let it put it onto the controller.

Good luck
