How to connect to windows VM ?

From what I understand, to connect to Linux machine a key pair based authentication is used .This key is inserted into image while booting.

How this works in case of windows? Does windows images comes with a known username/password

If you are using the installer from CloudBase ( http://www.cloudbase.it/cloud-init-for-windows-instances/ ) then you can configure user data (such as password) to be inserted at boot time.
