How to configure juno/nova to log remotely

In my nova.conf:

debug=True
use_syslog=True
use_syslog_facility=LOG_LOCAL0

And in my rsyslog.conf

/etc/rsyslog.conf

...
*.* @loghost:514

debug logs goto /var/log/nova/nova-api.log just fine. And all other nova-* services log to their own log files.

I can run logger testing from the controller and that shows up on the remote syslog collector. I can also successfully ping the loghost from the controller. What am I missing ?

Configuring rsyslogd for Remote Connections

To configure rsyslogd to accept remote connections, you will need to be logged into the controller node and run the following commands:

sudo vim /etc/rsyslog.conf

In that file, find these lines and remove the # sign:

#$ModLoad imudp

#$UDPServerRun 514

Finally save the file (esc, !wq) and restart rsyslog as follows:

sudo /etc/init.d/rsyslog restart
