No volume.create event received by the ceilometer

asked 2013-04-28 02:34:46 -0500

anonymous user

i used the devstack to install the openstack and all the enabled services run well. When I create a instance through the horizon, the ceilometer can record the instance.create.xx events. However, when I create a volume, nothing is recorded by the ceilometer. I expected that a notification of volume.create event or something related will be received by the ceilometer.

I have follow the guide in the ceilometer document and configure the cinder.conf.

Anyone could help me?

There are a couple of things you could verify in this case:

1) Make sure Cinder is correctly speaking with the message broker 2) Make sure the volume is being created

This sounds like a configuration issue related to ceilometer. If you're able to create a volume, it means that cinder is talking with the message broker. Could you share your configs or more info related to that? What do logs say?

Also, the volume's events are: create.start and create.end

do you see in your cinder-volume.log some thing like :

DEBUG [cinder.openstack.common.rpc.amqp] Sending volume.create.start on

DEBUG [cinder.openstack.common.rpc.amqp] Sending volume.create.end on

DEBUG [cinder.openstack.common.rpc.amqp] Sending volume.delete.start on

DEBUG [cinder.openstack.common.rpc.amqp] Sending volume.delete.end on

if not, configure cinder.conf to send notifications : notificationdriver=cinder.openstack.common.notifier.rpcnotifier
