Dears,

We have a working environment of icehouse. Where controller, neutron are running in virtual machines and compute node as a physical machine. We have configured CEPH as the storage. We are able to create volume, edit volume, extend volume. But when trying to attach newly created volume to a Virtual Machine, the operationg failed and we got the following error in the compute log

Returning exception internal error unable to execute QEMU command '__com.redhat_drive_add': Device 'drive-virtio-disk1' could not be initialized to caller

When made a search about this error, it could happend because of the RBD module is not loaded in the compute node kernel. I had updated the kernel to 3.18.1. before updating it was 2.6.32. After upgrading the kernel, i checked the RBD module and result is as follows

[root@compute ~]# lsmod | grep rbd

rbd 57971 0

libceph 166955 1 rbd

[root@compute ~]#

Hi All,

The issue has been fixed by downgrading the qemu-img and qemu-kvm packages in the compute node.

Before it was

qemu-img-0.12.1.2-2.415.el6.x86_64.rpm

qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.415.el6.x86_64.rpm

Now I updated with following

qemu-img-0.12.1.2-2.355.el6.2.cuttlefish.x86_64

qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.355.el6.2.cuttlefish.x86_64

Restarted all the services related to Nova in compute node. Now, I am able to create volume without errors

Thanks for the help.
