Hi all,

I am installing the the openstack on CentOS7 according to official guide(Using neutron networking). After completed chapter 6,i want to launch a basic instance to check everything is right there. Then I got the error:

[root@controller ~]# nova boot --flavor m1.tiny --image cirros-0.3.3-x86_64 --nic net-id=00d299be-cbee-47d2-a564-a31af0c92fc2 --security-group default --key-name demo-key demo-instance1
ERROR (ClientException): The server has either erred or is incapable of performing the requested operation. (HTTP 500) (Request-ID: req-f15354d4-a36b-4f86-b705-5e0395eec8d3)

So i checked the log of nova-api:

Check nova-compute.log.

I am in exactly the same place and wondering what to do. My nova compute log on the compute node just show the status of the resource and no indication that the compute resources are being used or contacted. Yet nova service-list shows the node as up and available but in the nova, not internal zone.

nova-compute.log doesn't show anything valuable, just something like this:

2014-12-11 14:13:05.324 4196 AUDIT nova.compute.resource_tracker [-] Auditing locally available compute resources
.....

Problem solved, all because i didn't set up CONTROLLER NODE's Compute service。I misunderstood "Compute" in "Install and configure controller node" for "Compute Node".Thank you for caring my problem.

I hope official guide can note it in future.
