Hi All,

Last week I had been installed HP Helion(virtual installation) in Z600 workstation. then everything is ok. Today I restart my Z600 workstation, afterwards **I find all VMs(seed VM, overcloud and undercloud VM and so on) cannot start.** I don't find any script for starting VMs. so who can help me for this? Many Thanks.

can you try to use virsh to start all the vms, this might work.

1. virsh list
2. virsh start <domain_id>

Typically as an operator, you would use Horizon to control VMs in the overcloud. But if the seed and undercloud are down, then this is not an option and you have to restore the entire system state, or re-install Helion.

You can use the backup and restore scripts to restore system state, e.g.

# set environment variables..

cd /root/tripleo/tripleo-incubator/scripts/
./hp_ced_backup.sh --seed -f /root/backup
./hp_ced_backup.sh --undercloud -f /root/backup
./hp_ced_backup.sh --overcloud -f /root/backup

# restore seed
./hp_ced_restore.sh -S -f /root/backup/backup_seed -c /root/baremetal.csv

# restore undercloud
./hp_ced_restore.sh -U -f /root/backup/backup_undercloud -c /root/baremetal.csv

# restore overcloud
./hp_ced_restore.sh -O -f /root/backup/backup_overcloud

Hi Echiu, I check these script in my system, but I didn't find these scripts(hp_ced_backup.sh,hp_ced_restore.sh) under the path /root/tripleo/tripleo-incubator/scripts/ when I installed HP Helion Vitural installation, I also didn't get any error information. so where do you find this script?

or you install other software of HP Helion, right?

See Helion documentation on backup and restore for more information on the scripts: http://docs.hpcloud.com/helion/openst...

Which version of Helion are you running? It may be that these scripts are not available in older versions of Helion.

Hi echiu,

I have downloaded Helion_Openstack_Community_V1.4.tar.gz, I think it is the latest version, but I couldn't find hp_ced_backup.sh and hp_ced_restore.sh either. Are them deleted from the latest version??

Looks like the backup and restore script is no longer in the 1.4 version of Helion OpenStack Community. I read the hp_ced_host_manager.sh script and inside there is a flag there for exporting and importing the seed VM. You may try to use hp_ced_host_manager.sh --export-seed for backup and hp_ced_host_manager.sh --import-seed for restoring.

Hope that helps!
