Heat does not log

I've been installing openstack for a while now and i've gotten up to the Heat part. I'm trying to start the heat services ( heat-api heat-api-cfn heat-engine ) but they stop immediately after i start them. I enable logging on heat.conf by setting verbose = True and log_dir=/var/log/heat and log_file=heat.log but i still can't see any log files.

Any idea what this might be related to?

which version of OpenStack and what the deployment tool you were using? could you paste the whole keystone.conf and heat.conf to , these two files are crucial to troubleshooting.

Yes, Post your heat logs. That makes it a lot easier for troubleshooting. There should be a trace or an error in the heat logs that tells you why it is exiting out.

Is there any error message/trace on the console while the service is being brought up?

I have openstack icehouse, i could not figure out the problem because heat doesn't write any logs, even though i specified the logs folder and filename. The heat daemon starts fine but it stops immediately after i type any heat command. I do not know exactly the problem but i solved this by removing and purging heat, removing all the files under /etc/heat/* , reboot then reinstall.
