i have created a juno setup with three architecture i.e. controller, compute and network node. its working fine. Now I want to add ironic service to that setup. Following the installation guide provided at http://docs.openstack.org/developer/i...

But the configuration for neutron suggested here differs the earlier configuration that I have in /etc/neutron/plugins/ml2/ml2_conf.ini during neutron installation.

Earlier configuration is as follows:

[ml2_type_flat]

flat_networks = external

[ovs]
...
local_ip = 194.2.1.2
enable_tunneling = True
bridge_mappings = external:br-ex

Now during ironic installation, suggested configuration is as follows:

[ml2_type_flat]
flat_networks = physnet1

[ovs]
network_vlan_ranges = physnet1
bridge_mappings = physnet1:br-eth2

Really confused which configuration I should follow. Please guide me.

They are two different types of Networks. The original one you are looking appears to be GRE while the second one appears to be VLAN. GRE would care about tunnels while VLANs just need the physnet mappings and VLAN ID Range.

You will want to look at the guide that is associated with the type of networking you want to configure, Neutron + VLAN or Neutron + GRE.

GRE (OVS):

[ml2_type_flat]
flat_networks = external
[ovs] ... local_ip = 194.2.1.2 enable_tunneling = True bridge_mappings = external:br-ex

VLAN (OVS):

[ml2_type_flat] flat_networks = physnet1
[ovs] network_vlan_ranges = physnet1 bridge_mappings = physnet1:br-eth2
