Dear all, When I use generic share driver in manila, the creating share will turn error directly if I do not specify the "--share-network" argument in the CLI or Horizon (since it's not marked necessary in Horizon)?

And I'm confused with the concept of "share network"?And is it necessary to all drivers?

Thanks. -Jun

You can find share_network concept definition on Manila Wiki Page: (

Since kilo release manila has two driver mods:

  • driver_manage_share_servers=True - this mode require share_network
  • driver_manage_share_servers=False - this mode doesn't require share_network, because in this mode driver works with backend directly.
