im deploying Openstack and have a problem. i installed mysql like that:

sudo apt-get install mysql-server python-mysqldb

after i want to create a database for Nova as below:

Create MySQL databases to be used with nova, glance and keystone.
Create a database named nova.

sudo mysql -uroot -pmygreatsecret -e ’CREATE DATABASE nova;’

but i get an error

ERROR 1064 (42000) at line 1: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'CREAT DATABASE nova' at line 1

please help me to resolve it.

Check the error message, looks like a typo to me: CREAT DATABASE nova.

HELLO,

just type in terminal,

mysql -u root -p (provide root password) create database nova; grant all privileges on nova.* to 'nova'@'localhost' identified by 'NOVA DBPASS';

grant all privileges on nova.* to 'nova'@'%' identified by 'NOVA DBPASS';

type: exit (come out of the mysql prompt)

then type: su -s /bin/sh -c "nova-manage db_sync" keystone
