The status is 'available' only when the volume is ready for use. Volume Staus shows error because of something went wrong while performing volume operations. You should check cinder logs for further analysis, of what went wrong. The Volume status can be changed by using the following command but it will not solve the problem. This is just for your refernce. cinder reset-state <volume> // This will change the state of volume to 'available' cinder reset-state --state error <volume> // This will change the state of volume to 'error'

If this not solves your problem, provide your cinder logs.

There can be many number of reasons to get error state of volume.

First of all check cinder (scheduler, volume) services are running or not using:

cinder service-list Schedule and volume entries should be active there.

If scheduler is not running then check the scheduler log in "/var/log/cinder/" (generally). Same for volume service also.

If you unable to figure out the issue. Just paste the Error messages obtained in logs.
