Internet Connectivity issue with Compute Node

I installed openstack with 2 node model and follwed the http://docs.openstack.org/havana/install-guide/install/apt/content/nova-network.html (http://docs.openstack.org/havana/inst...) guide.

As per chapter 5 Enable netwroking i Followed all the step and run the command:- nova network-create vmnet --fixed-range-v4=192.168.0.50/26 \ --bridge=br100 --multi-host=T

Once the above was done i created the VM and it was created with ip 192.168.0.2.

Because of this br100 got the ip as 192.168.0.1 which is my router ip (i guess) and due to all this mess the compute node is not able to connect to internet. Also I am not able to ping & ssh the VM. I can see something from horizon at controller node when i go to the console on instance.

What went wrong with this br100 config that internet connectivity is lost on compute node and i cant ping the VM instance.

My interface file for controller-

auto lo iface lo inet loopback For Exposing OpenStack API over the internet auto eth1 iface eth1 inet static address 192.168.0.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1 dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8

#Not internet connected(used for OpenStack management)
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 10.0.0.10
netmask 255.255.255.0

My interface file for compute- auto lo iface lo inet loopback For Exposing OpenStack API over the internet auto eth1 iface eth1 inet static address 192.168.0.11 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1 dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8

#Not internet connected(used for OpenStack management)
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 10.0.0.11

To your first question:

  1. Check your nova.conf file on Compute node, and what is the value you set to below parameters: flat_interface = eth1 public_interface = eth1 These should be other then eth0.

  2. If everything is fine, then down the br100 bridge and check the network connectivity.

Second question first, 1. Try to ping br100 which is "192.168.0.1". 2. If that succeeded then add security group rules to VMs (default security group is "default") using below commands: nova secgroup-add-rule default icmp -1 -1 0.0.0.0/0 nova secgroup-add-rule default tcp 22 22 0.0.0.0/0 3. It still you are not able to ping and ssh to the instances then check the console log of that instance (/var/lib/nova/instances/<instance_id>/console.log). In that you find "Sending discover" to the IP check it once.

Now your first question:

Thanks for the input..

1) The value for flat_interface = eth1 public_interface = eth1. eth1 is the NIC which is connected to router for internet connectivity.

If i bring down the br100 the network connectivity is back. Also i have added those config in the security group but still same problem

Okay check the console log file of instance. "//var/lib/nova/instances/<instance-id>/console.log" in this search for "Sending discover" and paste the next five log lines from there.
