Creating snapshot of volume fails

I am having the following problem on our openstack install. (Using Havana on RHEL 6.5). Creating a snapshot of a volume fails, creating a snapshot of an instance started of a volume fails as well. This via the Dashboard as well as via the command line.

Creating a snapshot when a server is started from an Image is no problem. Its when an instance is using a volume that it fails.

Why could this be? Is there some configuration aspect I overlooked?

OpenStack Block Storage also allows for creating snapshots of volumes. Remember that this is a block-level snapshot that is crash consistent, so it is best if the volume is not connected to an instance when the snapshot is taken and second best if the volume is not in use on the instance it is attached to

What is the error you are getting.

You can use "--force True" to take Live Snapshots (Snapshot on volume which is attached to the VM).
