Hi, guys:

A dumb question...On Cinder Volume node, can I load multiple volume drivers to support different types of volume drivers? For example, some volumes are LVM based, some other volumes are Ceph based? In other words, multiple vendors' products....Is it even possible? If not, then I guess I have to set up different volume nodes, one for each kind?

Thanks!

Surely it is possible to do. Different storage backends are available and can be configured to work behind the cinder:

  • LVM/iSCSI
  • Distributed file system(GlusterFS)
  • Network File Systems(NFS, ZFS, ...): Require additional driver
  • Ceph
  • etc

Yes, it is possible to use multiple backend. Cinder allows multiple backend, u can load multiple driver u want. For this u have to configure cinder-volume to use multiple backend that u want i.e ceph, lvm, etc. Follow below link for details:-
