I have 3 compute nodes - compute1, compute2, compute3. And I have 3 public networks 20.1.1.0/24, 20.1.2.0/24, 20.1.3.0/24. I need to set up 1 network on each compute node, that the VMs on compute1 get IP from 1st network 20.1.1.0/24, VMs on compute2 get IP from 2nd network 20.1.2.0/24, and VMs on compute3 get IP from the 3rd network 20.1.3.0/24.

Horizon is installed on controller node.

  • 1 controller node: nova-api nova-conductor nova-scheduler neutron-server.
  • 3 compute nodes: nova-compute, neutron-plugin-openvswitch-agent, neutron-plugin-ml2, DHCP agent.
  • No dedicated network node.

All vms access Internet on local compute node.

Neutron network is installed on all 3 compute nodes. It is ok to set up a network node if it is required. But the traffic is not centralized back to a network node. The goal is to set up a distributed compute system. Users share these compute nodes, access Internet on local nodes.

How to configure the controller, network and compute nodes?

Thanks, Steve

Hello Steve,

Have you horizon installed on your controller node? Have you also Neutron installed on both the controller and the Network Node or you just want a simple nova-network topology? What plugins are you using?

Can you tell us a bit more about what services have you installed and the configuration you have on the Network node and controller node?

Thank you
