I am constructing openstack havana release in ubuntu 12.04LTS.

I am following OpenStack Cloud Computing Cookbook Second Ediotion, but I meet some errors.

when I nova boot or nova delete image it return error status

nova list

ID Name Status Task State Power State Networks

~ myInstance ERROR None NOSTATE

Sorry about I have not enough point to attach images..

So, I check logs in compute node, using following commands,

tail -f /var/log/nova/nova-* | grep -i error

Logs show like this,

2014-10-06 06:41:10.017 1426 ERROR nova.openstack.common.rpc.amqp [req-945070f0-7b03-458e-a0ca-d112735c20b1 32a3bfb103564ee3a77183ee12ea63c7 2b1e0e785e854d61be1e04fc5905ba6b] Exception during message handling
2014-10-06 07:54:50.474 1426 WARNING nova.compute.manager [-] Found 5 in the database and 0 on the hypervisor.

I watch all log files but I can't found particular logs...

I search this error in google but I can't resolve this problem. Could you tell me how to resolve this problem?

Can you check the nova list instance status what it is showing, and also check all the services are up and running.

Try this,

$ nova reset-state ID

$ nova delete ID

hope this link helps you

You can get around the issue by resetting the state with the status field and then try a delete, if the delete does not work then you can force-delete.

nova reset-state --active {uuid-of-instance}

Then check the status of the VM:

nova show {uuid}

If the status is now "active" you can try a regular delete:

nova delete {uuid}

If that didn't work then try to force-delete the instance:

nova force-delete {uuid}

If none of these work then you may want to look into the messaging layer to see if there are issues with Rabbit/Qpid.
