Does a volume attached to a compute instance automatically terminates when the instance terminates??

Currently, I plan to attach a volume(Block Storage) to an instance. My question: When the instance is terminated, does the attached volume automatically detaches and terminates as well?

The volume gets deleted on termination of instance only if the delete-on-terminate flag is set at boot-time of the instance.

Actually, the volume is not deleted when you delete the instance. The question mentions explicitly that "I plan to attach a volume(Block Storage) to an instance" which means that it's a regular instance with an ephemeral root disk to which the user wants to attach a "permanent" volume.

Once again: a volume that was created independently of an instance (and later attached to it) will not be deleted when the instance is deleted.
