I am trying to provision baremetal with openstack using ironic. I followed ( for installing ironic.

But when I tried to boot machine through nova, I am getting "No valid host found...". I tried agent for provision.

Please help me on this. For last two weeks I am struggling on this.

Ironic does not have command to deploy. So, we have to use curl command to deploy. First you'll need to get a token from the below command:

 ironic --debug node-list

Store the value of the “X-Auth-Token” in the variable TOKEN

User Curl command to deploy:

curl -i -X PUT -H "X-Auth-Token: $TOKEN" -H 'Content-Type: application/json' -H 'Accept: application/json' -H 'User-Agent: python-ironicclient' -d '{"target": "active"}'$NODE/states/provision

where NODE is the UUID of the bare metal node

A recent patch in DevStack enables baremetal provisioning via Ironic.

First trying Ironic through DevStack would help you better understand Ironic.

Below is an article about configuring DevStack for Ironic. (
