Hi,

I am integrating openstack with esxi hypervisor, using "vmwareapi.VMwareVCDriver", I am able to launch VM from openstack dashboard with ACTIVE status and also acquired the internal IP for this VM from neutron as seen in openstack dashboard. But on VM Console i found an error "Operating system not found".

Setup Details:

Node 1: Openstack Controller + Network Node

Node 2: Openstack Compute node

Node 3: VCenter Server.

Node 4: ESXI host.

I am launching VM using ubuntu vmdk image from openstack dashboard, that is created using following link : http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/config-reference/content/vmware.html

Configurations done on /etc/nova/nova.conf

compute_driver=vmwareapi.VMwareVCDriver

connection_type = vmwareapi

[vmware]

host_ip=192.168.5.116

host_username=administrator@vsphere.local

host_password=Abcd@1234

cluster_name=cluster1

vmwareapi.integration_bridge=br-int

wsdl_location=file:///opt/stack/vmware/SDK/vsphere-ws/wsdl/vim25/vimService.wsdl

Thanks in advance

This is almost always a case of not have the correct properties set on the glance image. More information can be found here:

http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/config-reference/content/vmware.html

Scroll to section titled: Images with VMware vSphere

Thanks ericwb's.

But i have done exactly what is written in the doc : http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/config-reference/content/vmware.htm

I have first converted iso image to sparse qcow2 format and the converted the same to vmdk using qemu-img and after converting that image on esxi host using vmfstools but getting the same error.. :(
