While creating a floating IP pool by giving CIDR format to "ip_range" option it gives error that CIDR format is not supported. Sequence of operations:

1) Run following command: root@mc1:~# nova-manage floating create --pool=public --ip_range=68.99.26.170/31

Command failed, please check log for more info 2014-09-11 14:44:44.798 15875 CRITICAL nova [uuid None None] InvalidInput: Invalid input received: /31 should be specified as single address(es) not in cidr format

2) I was referring below grizzly document for creating floating IP pool:

nova-manage floating create --pool=[pool name] --ip_range=[CIDR]

http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly/openstack-compute/admin/content/associating-public-ip.html (http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly/ope...) I believe CIDR/subnet format support have not been changed or removed between grizzly and icehouse release.

Looks like above IP range is not correct. Although it works with 68.99.26.170/24. Still I think if wrong subnet (68.99.26.170/31) is specified the error should not be InvalidInput: Invalid input received: /31 should be specified as single address(es) not in cidr format

\31 is not valid CIDR part in given data, you can use \24

At least I would expect that error should be something about invalid CIDR or subnet part not below, by looking the error user will think CIDR format is itself not supported.

InvalidInput: Invalid input received: /31 should be specified as single address(es) not in cidr form

I think documentation http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly/ope... also need to be fixed...
