I have installed OpenStack Icehouse on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I have a two nodes, a controller etc. and an additional compute node.

The controller node has: nova-consoleauth, nova-conductor, nova-network, nova-cert, nova-scheduler & nova-compute

The compute node has: nova-network & nova-compute

I want to install/configure neutron as I understand that it will enhance my network capabilities.

I see that there are neutron commands already available but I do not see a neutron.conf file etc.

I've also heard devstack mentioned with regard to neutron.conf etc. Must I also install devstack or should I be able to work with what I already have?

Devstack is only for testing and development purpose. Do not mixup with openstack. There is no separate configuration for multinode. Just you need to configure the keystone host details in the config file. You can follow this blog for multinode deployment ,
