How we can see openstack nova form a capacity point of view.

My understanding is that we have a set of separated levels

CLOUD
  | -> REGION
           | -> AVAILABILITY ZONE (excluding the one called internal)
                    | -> HYPERVISOR

Can an hypervisor be part of different availability zones? All hypervisors have to be part of one zone?

A host can absolutely be part of multiple availability zones, and you can have multiple "availability zones" define for a group of hypervisors.

This article is an excellent introduction to the topic.

Thanks for answer the article very good article.

I have also seen related video and around minute 20:00 -- 22:00 the speaker explain that:

  1. You can add an host to multiple host aggregates;
  2. Not possible (difficult/try to avoid) add an host to multiple availability zone.

Am I wrong?
