I didi a bare install of Debian/Jessie ie Testing, and installed OpenStack.

Now, the base has no access to Internet, whatsoever.

The I/F(s) start down, when I bring 1 up (eth0), give it an address (Static or DHCP) : Nothing.

I have not run Horizon as yet.

Please provide more information. What is “the base”, how did you install OpenStack?

What version of OpenStack - is it Icehouse? How many of the nodes did you install? Are you using VMs to install multiple logical noes on a single physical machine (in other words, installing all of Controller, Compute and Network nodes in VMs on one physical machine)? Are you using Neutron networking or the legacy Nova networking?

Please search the site before posting. Things to be checked:

  • If you are using neutron, then try to ping gateway router first,

  • Add required rules in security group,

  • Check IP tables and

Make sure to explain what troubleshooting you have done and post logs & error message.

You clever guys don't think I know to try ping-ing, etc! Why do you NOT read the question!

The FACTS of the matter:

  • NetManager: installed and running.
  • cman: Failed: contra NetManager!

I noticed in the logs via journal -nx. I made NetManager disabled and rebooted. Result I now have an extra i/f - a bridge. Eth0 now has an appropriate address and eventually got internet access. Last problem was that I had installed a proxy server.

There you go guys! Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Next problem: give br0 an adress and then Horizon ...
