what is file-based back-end of Glance installation and what the difference of other ones?

what is the meaning of var/lib/glance should also be backed up. Take special notice of / var/lib/glance/images. If you are using a file-based back-end of Glance, /var/lib/glance/images is where the images are stored and care should be taken?

If you use a file-based backend for glance, the images are only stored in one location (/var/lib/glance/images). So, if anything goes wrong with that filesystem, your images could be corrupted or lost. This is why backup is recommended particularly for the file-based backend.
