how to check that controller sends vm request to compute node or not?

i have setup one controller and one compute node, now when try vm to launch from controller to compute its getting fail error few minutes after we request from controller, is there a way to check whether vm request to sent to compute node or not, status of compute node , etc ..?

You'll need to see why the instance went into an error state. The easiest way to do this is usually to use the nova client to list the instance and then show details about it.

Find the instance UUID by using :

nova list

This will give you a listing of instances, pick the instance that you are trying to troubleshoot and copy the UUID. Then you will want to use nova show to gather more information:

nova show {UUID}

This will give you information about the instance such as the hypervisor/Error Traces. See if there is an error message or a Trace within this info. If so you can look at the error and see what type of issue came up. If the Trace doesn't have enough information then lookup the Hypervisor and ssh to the correct compute node. (If there isn't a hypervisor listed, and the instance didn't make it far enough to get one, then start looking at logs on the controller under /var/log/nova.)

On the compute node check out the error logs for nova-compute:


This should have more detailed information about why the instance failed.
