hai, I have installed Icehouse setup which has controller & neutron node in same host and compute on seprate host. Whenever I launch the instance I'm unable to catch the VNC concole in horizon & also not able to ssh the instance. Checking the log show following errors in /var/log/upstart/neutron-plugin-openvswitch-agent.log

ERROR neutron.agent.linux.ovsdb_monitor [-] Error received from ovsdb monitor: ovsdb-client: unix:/var/run/openvswitch/db.sock: receive failed (End of file) ERROR neutron.agent.linux.ovs_lib [-] Unable to execute ['ovs-ofctl', 'dump-flows', 'br-int', 'table=22']. Exception: Command: ['sudo', '/usr/bin/neutron-rootwrap', '/etc/neutron/rootwrap.conf', 'ovs-ofctl', 'dump-flows', 'br-int', 'table=22'] Exit code: 1 Stdout: '' Stderr: 'ovs-ofctl: br-int is not a bridge or a socket\n'

It seems the error is due to openVswitch & neutron-plugin-openvswitch-agent.

Could anyone help me with solution ? P.S: I installed both the controller & compute node machine inside the VirtualBox.

Hi! It seems like you are missing the integration bridge on the compute nopde. Did you add the br-int bridge on the compute node? (sudo ovs-vsctl add-br br-int)

is this enough ???? "ovs-vsctl add-br br-int" does br-int needs to be connected to a port or interface l???

Hi,

i think your ovs are not setup/configured correctly. Do you have upgraded your kernel after your installation of ovs kernel modul? It seems to ovs doesn't start correctly.

Try

apt-get install --reinstall openvswitch-datapath-dkms

and reboot.

In addition create your br-int like stipi descipes and test with

ovs-vsctl show

if you see your other switches (gre tunnels)

Cheers Heiko

Thanks for your responce, My kernal version is Linux controller 3.13.0-32-generic #57-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jul 15 03:51:08 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux In document it is given Ubuntu installations using Linux kernel version 3.11 or newer do not require the openvswitch-datapath-dkms package. I also added br-int

Do you see any errors in openvswitch logs or syslog ?

All right,

the problem is the same, your ovs isn't running. Howeer you should try to install the kernel module from package (openvswitch-datapath-dkms).

I don't have an other idea.

Cheers

I installed both the node inside the VirtualBox. So is this create any problem ?
