The guide here seems pretty long: .

I'm currently an computer science intern attempting to automate web application deployment. The problem is I only have four weeks, but I thought it would be really impressive if I can use the power of docker and heat and nova to deploy web applications quickly and efficiently. I only have 4 weeks of internship left and I'm not sure if I have enough time to configure openstack icehouse and impress my employers.

You try to install Openstack with Juju on Ubuntu. It automates most and saves lot of time.

All the best!!

Step-by-step is working, I successfully installed keystone, nova, cinder, neutron, horizon. I have following problems:

  1. neuron architecture is not enough flexible, I do not like idea of float/fixed.
  2. upgrade is not safe operation - I have installed Havana on CentOS 6, at some time it was updated to Icehouse and cluster was crushed, at that time I cannot install Icehouse on CentOS 6, so I moved to Ubuntu 14.04, I still afraid to do updates...
  3. migration of volumes in cinder seems to work bad (after fail I have volumes which I cannot delete), migration of VMs I do not tested yet.

It is possible to set up keystone, nova, cinder, neutron, horizon in a week. But how to support it working long time is a good question.
