Hi posted a thread earlier about an error messages in the logs when I start cinder-volume and could resolve it (I think) by installing sudo on my Debian Wheezy, placing /sbin into the $PATH variable using /etc/profiles and add settin iscsi_helper to ietadm. After that, cinder-volume started an I could create a volume that showed as available. Now, I restarted the services and see a different error message in /var/log/cinder/cinder-volume.log:

root@cinder:~# cat /var/log/cinder/cinder-volume.log

I went through the Python scripts and lines mentioned above, but cannot find out which command it actually tries to execute. I assumed is was the iscsi_helper command which I set to ietadm. So I added /usr/sbin/ to $PATH, too, but still get the message.

Here's my config:

root@cinder:~# cat /etc/cinder/cinder.conf
[DEFAULT]
rootwrap_config = /etc/cinder/rootwrap.conf
sql_connection = mysql://cinder:password@10.10.10.3/cinder
api_paste_confg = /etc/cinder/api-paste.ini
iscsi_helper = ietadm
volume_name_template = volume-%s
volume_group = cinder-volumes
verbose = True
auth_strategy = keystone
logdir = /var/log/cinder
state_path=/var/lib/cinder
lock_path=/var/lock/cinder
volumes_dir = /var/lib/cinder/volumes
rabbit_host = 10.10.10.5
rabbit_port = 5672
rabbit_use_ssl = false
rabbit_userid = guest
rabbit_password = 12346789
rabbit_virtual_host = /
root@cinder:~#

Seems like Cinder on Wheezy is a real pain ^^

Any ideas?

It seems related to bug #1175207 [1]. I was facing the same issue and this commit [2] solves it
