[Errno 98] Address already in use

We're deploying Folsom on Ubuntu 12.10 server, with nova-networks and Cinder (as opposed to Quantum or nova-volumes).

Both nova-api log[1] and cinder-api log[2] return the same error: [Errno 98] Address already in use.

I've found a couple of related bugs[3][4] (although, under RedHat) that appear to have been resolved by setting either enabled_apis=ec2,osapi_compute,metadata or osapi_volume_listen_port=5900. The latter is commented out in both cinder.conf and nova.conf — I uncommented both instances and restarted all of the Nova & Cinder services. The error still persists.

If anyone can point us to a proven fix for this it'd be appreciated.

I think there are more than one threads of nova-api service is running amd they are trying to access the same address space.

To know howmany threads of nova-api are running : Do ps -ef |grep nova-api
then kill -9

Do same for cinder-api

hopefully this will solve your problem .
