Setup:

  1. Have a cloud controller with all the components except the nova-compute.
  2. Have a separate compute node with nova-compute running. The /etc/nova/nova.conf file has all the correct entries for the quantum on the controller node (looked at the controller node configuration and populated the nova.conf accordingly). there is no quantum agent or any footprint of the quantum on the compute node.
  3. When an instance is launched without any networking i.e,

    $ nova boot --image <image> --flavor <flavor> <instance_name>

the compute node is failing with the following error:

I tried with specifying wrong username to see if compute node reaches the controller and fails during authentication. But, getting the same error. I think, it's not reaching the controller node at all.

Am I missing something here ? There is not much help available for this specific problem on the web.

@Jobin Do I need to execute the command on the compute node or on the cloud controller ? On the compute-node, I only have the compute-node working but have the keystone client installed. But, I tried keystone token-get from the compute node and here is what I am getting: #keystone --os-username <user> --os-password <passwd> --os-auth-url=<url> 'token-get' WARNING: Bypassing authentication using a token & endpoint (authentication credentials are being ignored). 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'has_service_catalog' I tried the same on the cloud controller and pasted the same on http://paste.openstack.org%3C/p%3E (http://paste.openstack.org)
