I created a exteral net under tenant admin, if I want to launch intances, I have to creat a internal net, and I did so. But I can not associate floatingip. Under another tenant, I created a internal too. And I can associate floatingip from the external net.

If I want to launch intances under tenant admin, What should I do ?

It's tough to decipher exactly what you mean. Can you describe your network layout in openstack? How are the different networks connected and/or isolated from each other? Maybe post some quantum output?

Hi! The solution I describe here is based on Horizon with Neutron enabled. To associate a floating IP to an instance, it has to be attached to some private network (which what you have done already), and this network have to be attached to a router that will act as a gateway to the public network.

Follow these steps and it would work for you (it does for me :) :

  1. Create a router (Project -> Network -> Routers) and set it as a gateway
  2. Create a private network (Project -> Network -> Networks)
  3. Go back to the router and create a new interface (on "Subnet" choose the newly created subnet)
  4. Create an instance and attach it to this network

Then you would be able to associate a floating IP to your instance.
