Apache2 doesnt close connections to Nova sometimes

Sometimes, I am seeing a problem of nova api and hence horizon becoming unresponsive.

The reason is that nova seems to handle only around 1000-1024 open connections and it is not processing the new connection request from apache.

Why is apache not closing the connections with nova api server sometimes ?

Is this caused due to some wrong configuration or is there a way to prevent this issue.

Any help is appreciated.

This looks like it could be https://bugs.launchpad.net/horizon/+b... , for which the main fix was in Nova client. You may want to check that the nova client version you're using contains that patch. Looking at the commit's details though I'm not sure if it's been included in a nova client official release yet, though I know some distros (e.g. RDO) have cherry-picked it for their packages.
