Running docker on devstack

I installed docker as a plugin on devstack following this: ( . I had to make some changes though, instead of: ln -sf $(cd heat/contrib/docker-plugin/plugin; pwd) /usr/lib/heat/docker, I did this: ln -sf $(cd docker/resources; pwd) /usr/lib/heat/docker and then I manually added this: /opt/stack/heat/contrib/docker/docker/resources into etc/heat/heat.conf.

After that I'm trying to deploy this template (this is just to ensure that it's working, I know that it's not doing anything special): (

I get this error when I try to spin up the stack: my_docker_container MissingSchema: Invalid URL u'': No schema supplied. Perhaps you meant (

What change do I need to make to get this working?

Thank you!!!

Hi Sabeen,

This error maybe result from the "docker_endpoint" part in this template. You can just remove this docker_endpoint property, but in this way, the container is create locally.

Otherwise, you might want to use "str_replace" to manully add a "http://" to the "docker_endpoint" properties, then docker remain installed on the nova server instance.

I do not know if this is a bug in heat-docker plugin, but my error could be solved by this way.

Yep, exactly right.

It's a bug in the template from the original blog post (one of many, unfortunately - take a look at if you run into any others).
