Hi Guys,

Need some help, not sure it's possible, but I am setting up a high availability cluster with 2 controller nodes and 2 haproxy's. I am using Swift for storage, and already set up glance to store images on swift. Now I am trying to set up cinder and want to place volume storage on the clustered swift instance. From reading through the documents, it seems swift volume driver is not supported, but back up is. New to linux and not sure of the difference and if this is possible.

Swift is Object Storage. CInder is block. Cinder requires block storage backends which wouldn't be associated with Swift. Glance works with swift because it is storing images that are static. If you are looking for a backend that is similar to swift but supports cinder you would want to check out Ceph.

Sorry for my lack of experience with linux, but I was thinking that swift is similar to ceph and that I could use either for back end storage. Weather it was glance or cinder volumes.

No worries. It's not the same. You could use ceph for block storage and object storage, swift is only object storage. Cinder needs a back-end. LVM or NFS or one of the supported drivers:

Some of the certified drivers are above for third party.

So if I use compute nodes for my cinder service node (cinder-volume) with LVM. This would placed on multiple nodes and use the second disk. How would data loss be handled, for example the drive fails on one node.
