I have installed icehouse openstack on Ubuntu 10.04 with three node, controller, compute and network node. As per guide, I should be able to ping its gateway towards external network from any external host, but I am not able to do so. Even I cannot ping either of the interfaces from compute and controller node.

I can ping all the interfaces from network node using `

sudo ip netns exec qrouter-1141a29e-5728-4327-81f1-3519617e986e ping <ip address>`.

I have tried all the possible troubleshooting using online help but not getting success. Kindly help me to resolve this issue.

When you created eth6 as OVS port of br-ex, IP of eth6 should be assigned to br-ex

Kindly see the output of command sudo ip netns exec qrouter-1141a29e-5728-4327-81f1-3519617e986e ip addr 1: lo: <loopback,up,lower_up> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group default link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00 inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever inet6 ::1/128 scope host valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever 15: qr-016361b7-75: <broadcast,up,lower_up> mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group default link/ether fa:16:3e:07:82:19 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff inet 192.168.1.200/24 brd 192.168.1.255 scope global qr-016361b7-75 valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever inet6 fe80::f816:3eff:fe07:8219/64 scope link valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever 16: qg-e06dfe21-c7: <broadcast,up,lower_up> mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group default link/ether fa:16:3e:33:9b:ff brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff ...(more)

As per the guide I have only mentioned the interface name to assign it to br-ex, which don't have ip assigned to it. so how that interface ip will get assigned to br-ex while it dosen't have any ip ? I have configured eth6 by adding following lines to interfaces file- # The external network interface auto INTERFACE_NAME iface INTERFACE_NAME inet manual up ip link set dev $IFACE up down ip link set dev $IFACE down
