Hi, I have configured the RHEL image properly and the nova image list shows the image. I have created a 20GB volume which is also seen properly. From the dashboard, I can attach the volume to the cirros instance. However, when I try to attach the volume to the RHEL instance, it doesnt get attached. I am not seeing any errors in the nova-compute log.

[root@controller ~]# nova image-list +--------------------------------------+--------------+--------+--------+ | ID | Name | Status | Server | +--------------------------------------+--------------+--------+--------+ | 3406da4c-0bd9-419e-98ea-d6464e36caeb | CirrOS 0.3.1 | ACTIVE | | | 507b06b5-4b1f-4cca-920d-d16af4d96c9e | RHEL | ACTIVE | | +--------------------------------------+--------------+--------+--------+ [root@controller ~]# cinder list +--------------------------------------+-----------+--------------+------+-------------+----------+-------------+ | ID | Status | Display Name | Size | Volume Type | Bootable | Attached to | +--------------------------------------+-----------+--------------+------+-------------+----------+-------------+ | dcdf7208-d7a8-4e0d-86aa-74ae3f6d4456 | available | ssdvol | 20 | None | false | | +--------------------------------------+-----------+--------------+------+-------------+----------+-------------+

Can somebody please help me out ?

Thanks, Nikhil.

Hi, Thanks for the information. I am able to attach the volume to the cirros instance from the dashboard. I am created one more instance of RHEL6.5. When I connect to the console of this instance,it shows me that I need to install the OS which is as expected. So right now I cannot do ssh to the RHEL instance. I just need to attach the volume to the RHEL instance and then install the OS on this volume.

Thanks, Nikhil.

Soft-rebooted the instance and then tried to attach the volume and it worked. Created one more instance and tried to attach the volume without soft-rebooting and it didnt work. After doing the soft-reboot I was able to attach the volume to the second instance also.

Thanks, Nikhil.
