hi experts

I would like to create an internal network in my tennant across my set of ubuntu vm, I need to use fix address plan (software constraints). i succeed to set up the network and a eth1 second vip in a static id addressing mode on each vm.

problem, no vm(s) is able to communicate via this vlan! The same configuration with the dhcp service and vm config is working fine.

I running openstack havana.

I think devstack should work in this type of environment setup. How did you install OpenStack and can you paste your nova.conf file?

As VMs are used eth1 interface can be configured as hostOnly adaptor or if VMs located across different hosts then it can be configured to bridge adapter over physical interface from where other host machine is reachable.

now configure static ip address as per network range. e.g. on ubuntu it will be /etc/network/interface

auto eth1 iface eth1 inet static address netmask

now follow the same step for another VM, VMs can communicate with each other.

Note: eth1 should not be configured for VNC switch; If so should have to add another network interface and configure t as above and instade of eth1 it will be newly added interface .
