I am currently attempting to install Icehouse on Ubuntu 14.04 and in this setup, I am combining the 'network node' as part of the controller node. I am planning to use Neutron for networking.

I believe I need to install openvswitch on the compute nodes but unsure if this is required on the controller node, could someone clarify this?

regards Ian

OVS is required for neutron server in Openstack controller node. If you go for three node setup: controller, network node & compute nodes then on your network node ovs should be installed.

If you're planning on combining the network and the controller nodes then you do require the openvswitch module installed.

Hi Florin

Thanks for providing the answer, I will now install ovs on my compute and 'combined' controller/network nodes.
