Hi guys,

I deployed OpenStack cloud, using Neutron GRE network, every nodes (network or compute) have Internet access. Each node has one public IP.

As I understand, all traffic to the Internet must go through Network node. That MAY cause bottleneck on network node (since I intend to deploy public services on VMs).

I wonder is there any way to make Internet traffic go directly from VMs to local host to Internet? will it affect the LBaaS or FWaaS?

I too have concerns about the network bottleneck. I have a public cloud with openstack and floating public ip's. I have not load tested it with many VM's but it would seem like it could be a problem. I was thinking of possibly implementing LAG on 2 nics to get better throughput and load. Would love to get feedback from a larger implementation.

We're using Cisco UCS B200M3 with VIC1240+VIC1280 as network nodes. This provides 2x20Gbps with hardware failover. We're staring out with 4 network nodes per AZ and will add additional network nodes as demand and utilization increases.
