Hi All

I am installing the Icehouse release on a Ubuntu 14.04 based system, I am strictly following the installation guide and have now foubnd an issue, where the default nova.conf file seems to be missing a lot of configuration values.

This is what was run as listed in the installation guide ---

apt-get install nova-api nova-cert nova-conductor nova-consoleauth nova-novncproxy nova-scheduler python-novaclient

This is the nova.conf as found after the installation completed ---

[DEFAULT]

dhcpbridge_flagfile=/etc/nova/nova.conf

dhcpbridge=/usr/bin/nova-dhcpbridge

logdir=/var/log/nova

state_path=/var/lib/nova

lock_path=/var/lock/nova

force_dhcp_release=True

iscsi_helper=tgtadm

libvirt_use_virtio_for_bridges=True

connection_type=libvirt

root_helper=sudo nova-rootwrap /etc/nova/rootwrap.conf

verbose=True

ec2_private_dns_show_ip=True

api_paste_config=/etc/nova/api-paste.ini

volumes_path=/var/lib/nova/volumes

enabled_apis=ec2,osapi_compute,metadata

Could anyone provide the a working nova.conf for me to use as a starting point, also a trove.conf would be appreciated as it seems that the Ubuntu 14.04 packasges are missing these [bug reported for these by others] as required for Icehouse for me to amend to my requirements?

OR would you suggest I change my setup to Centos v6.5 as this is a new installation.

regards Ian

Issue persist on Juno but the additions recommended below are already documented on the configuration reference.

I only put back in these commands and everything works. They are missing in the documentation and cause errors without them.

logdir=/var/log/nova state_path=/var/lib/nova lock_path=/var/lock/nova

Hi Granadol

I don't understand your answer, further reading of the Openstack documentation - in the configuration reference documentation, I found an example of a basic nova.conf file for the controller node on page 196 of link text

Should I be creating my nova.conf based on the small private cloud version? I have 2 controller nodes and 2 compute nodes with neutron ML2 network with ovs plugin using gre/vxlan.

Sorry it does not sound clear after reading it. I put all commands per the documentation and also added the three commands above the logdir, the state_path and the Lock_path. The others did not need to be added, at least in my setup. If you don't add those three additional commands, you receive errors.
