I chose to 'Initialize and configure the database' following the Installation Guide for Ubuntu 12.04/14.04 (LTS). However, I can't figure out how to fully configure the /etc/openstack-dashboard/local_settings.py file for this specific purpose.

This is the section I added to the file :

SESSION_ENGINE = 'django.core.cache.backends.db.DatabaseCache'
DATABASES = {
'default': {
    # Database configuration here
    'ENGINE': 'django.db.backends.mysql',
    'NAME': 'dash',
    'USER': 'dash',
    'PASSWORD': 'bca7a6d73f91ad739313',
    'HOST': 'localhost',
    'default-character-set': 'utf8'
}
}

Doing these changes, the Dashboard no longer works.
