I tried to install the Helion community edition on Ubuntu 14.04 and I tried it twice already and I got exactly the same error. The undercloud seems to be installed successfully but the overcloud installation seems to be timing out. Here's where the installation stops:

Appreciate any help!

Just additional info: When I checked the host, it shows that 4 VMs are running:

# virsh list
 Id Name State

 4 baremetal_1 running
 6 baremetal_3 running

I am using the HP bl465cG5 with AMD Opteron Processor 2354

Here's a portion of the compute node's log file: /var/log/upstart/nova-compute.log

I'm also have this same problem, anybody has some solution for this? I input "bash -x ~root/tripleo/....../hp_ced_installer.sh", and undercloud can install completely, but I always have error report in overcloud, error information is "command output matched "CREATE_FAILED". Exiting.....

Can you please update the title of this with the actual symptom, not just "installation issue" ? It will help when people search for the problem they're seeing.

In order to get to the bottom of this issue could you please grab some logs from your undercloud system and edit your question (paste the logs on paste.openstack.org if they're too long)

  1. To log into your undercloud system you first need to become root on your head node and then log into the seed (as root). The IP address of the seed is 192.0.2.1.
  2. Next, source ~root/stackrc
  3. Run 'nova list' and note the IP address of the undercloud node ctlplane.
  4. ssh -l heat-admin <ctlplane_address>, e.g. ssh -l heat-admin 192.0.2.2
  5. sudo su -
  6. cd /var/log/upstart
  7. paste the content of the log files http://paste.openstack.org
  8. If there are no swift of glance logs in /var/log/syslog then please also include /var/log/syslog* as well.

Extra debugging info you can provide:

  1. Follow the steps above to get to the undercloud node 192.0.2.2, become root and source stackrc
  2. issue command nova list
  3. Note the IP address of the nova compute node.
  4. Log back out to the seed (you should be root on the seed) and ssh -l heat-admin <compute_ip_addr>
  5. Become root again.
  6. Look in /var/log/upstart/nova-compute.log for any errors or stacktraces

If you could also post the CPU type of your host system (e.g. intel or AMD) that would be great.

Update: An issue has been found with the version of virtualization included in your kit and AMD hardware. This is being investigated by HP team.

Hi John, I tried to attach the tar'ed log file, but ask.openstack.org only allows certain file extensions to be attached (.jpg, jpeg, .gif, .bmp, . png and .tiff). I will rename the file to one of the supported extensions but I don't know if that will work. Please let me know if there's a better way to do it.

Thanks!

I posted a portion of the compute log file above. It's a little long so I didn't post the whole thing.

use http://paste.openstack.org to paste long logs

@John: You mentioned that there might be problem with the version of virtualization and AMD hardware, I think the was my problem. Everything went well when I installed it with Intel system. So hopefully the issue with AMD will be resolved in the next release.
