Hello,

After completing the Openstack setup and launching an instance, i've used Cirros as test image, when i go to Instances-->Console, I see a blank screen, no prompt or anything, i can't ping the IP it say is assigned, is there something wrong with my networking? My external network IP and Internal(demo) have the same IP configuration, help appreciated.

Thanks

Did you try to press "enter' or "backspace" on CirrOS console, it works for me.

Check the instance Log page. If there is nothing written there, you have misconfigured something on your setup. Check nova logs on your controller and compute nodes.

May be this https://ask.openstack.org/en/question/9183/cannot-login-ping-or-ssh-to-cirros-test-image/ (https://ask.openstack.org/en/question...) be of some help to you.

Where can I download the Ubuntu Cloud Images from for Openstack? I have found this https://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/ , but it is for Amazon, perhaps.

Ubuntu Cloud image (qcow2 image downloaded from https://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/ ) takes up 16 GB of RAM when launched as an instance. Can you suggest a bit lighter version of Linux which takes RAM lesser than this?

I am talking about the size of the instance displayed in the Size field against each Instance in the Instances tab. I agree that the size of the qcow2 image is 210MB. I am talking about the RAM requirement of the Instance.

What flavor you are giving to instance. You can give Tiny (1Gb Ram)

You are giving strange values the total size of image is 210MB. Else try FEDORA http://fedoraproject.org/en/get-fedor...

Download these images for use with your local private cloud, or to modify and upload to a public cloud. The qcow2 images can be used directly by OpenStack.
