Hi, I have a stable Grizzly install running for more than a year, all of a sudden without any change I started getting 401 Unauthorized when using nova command line. I am able to login using same credentials via Horizon and see the instance inventory list and other details, but unable to create instance or start/stop instance from Horizon, I see the same 401 error. There has been no change to the system or application, overnight the issue appeared.

I verified all the nova authtoken, environment variables, etc., everything seems to be fine.

Please let me know what is the issue.

Thanks

I am having this same issue. Out of the blue nova and all other services 401. I have tried re-creating users, creating new users, debugging tokens (they all seem fine).

So we dug and dug and the more we thought about it, it seemed strange that this error happened exactly after a year. It seemed like a cert issue and it was. See this blog post that gives the steps on how to fix the issue. Out of the box keystone certs expire after one year.
