Ephemeral Storage, Object Storage,Block Storage
The first is default , when just launch instance, Block storage requires Cinder, Object Storage requires Swift

General informatin you may find here.

Via `nova boot ` command you may for instance create cinder volume to be prepared for next boot up or use just Ephemeral Storage . Nova boot command line is a subject to learn, as well as Cinder and Swift. You may prepare cinder volume via glance image to boot instance via nova command line. Next is what kind of backend may cinder to utilize. I preffer Gluster 3.4.3 replicated volumes between Controller and Compute Nodes. In general, it's a question of personal choice.
