I want to use some thin clients, PXE boot, authenticate users via Microsoft Active Directory or LDAP and create a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure basically. Is that possibile with OpenStack? Thank you!

You would in general not rely on PXE booting in your OpenStack environment. Other than that, you're just booting virtual instances, and how you configure them is entirely up to you -- if your selected operating system supports authentication against AD or LDAP, OpenStack does nothing to prevent you from using that.

Rather than PXE booting, you would typically set up a base image and then boot your instances from that.

The OpenStack web site has a presentation on OpenStack and virtual desktops.
